Obituary for Thomas "Jack" Sergent

Thomas “Jack” Jackson Sergent, 78, of Petersburg, Kentucky, passed away peacefully, on Monday, January 29, 2018. Jack is preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Shirley Sergent and their daughter, Darla Sergent. He is survived by his loving wife Violet Bursey Sergent; daughter, Debbie McDonough (Don); sister, Sue Ryland (Rich); granddaughters, Dawn Anderson and Tera Acevedo (Justin); great-granddaughters, Isabella and Elisa Acevedo; stepchildren, Bonnie Burr (Todd), Cathie King (Tim), Mark Bursey (Melanie); step-grandchildren, Jake Burr, Cora King, Sammie Burr, Xavier Bursey, and Spencer Bursey. Jack worked as a machinist for R.A. Jones. He was an active Mason, Shriner, and member of the Scottish Right. He enjoyed his skeet club and was an avid fisherman. Visitation will take place on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Stith Funeral Home, 2988 Phyllis Court, Hebron, Kentucky 41048, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Petersburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to: Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center, 110 Conn Terrace, Lexington, KY 40508 (Attention of Development Office).
