- We are members in good standing with the National Funeral Directors Association, Kentucky Funeral Directors Association, Northern Kentucky Funeral Directors Association, Kentucky Funeral Directors Burial Association and the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.
In the 1920's Charles B. Stith ran a general store in Butler, Kentucky (Pendleton County). He was selling coffins from his store and practicing embalming and funeral directing within his community. Then his daughter married William C. Tharp, who later became associated with Charles B. Stith in the operation of Tharp & Stith Funeral Homes in Alexandria and Dayton, Kentucky (Campbell County). When W. Ralph Stith, son of Charles, graduated from Cincinnati College of Embalming, he opened a location in August 1937 in Florence, Kentucky (Boone County) as Stith Funeral Home.
Charles B. Stith retired in 1944 and died in 1948. William C. Tharp sold Tharp & Stith Funeral Homes of Alexandria and Dayton in 1948.
Donald W. Stith, son of W. Ralph Stith entered the business with his father in 1961 upon graduation from Cincinnati College of Embalming. The Stith Funeral Home business was incorporated in December 1967. W. Ralph Stith died in 1971.
In 1980, upon graduation from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, Douglas M. Stith entered the family business with his father Donald W. Stith. Douglas and his father worked together for 25 years until Donald W. Stith passed away on March 22, 2004.In December 2007 Douglas M. Stith opened a branch facility of Stith Funeral Home in Hebron, Kentucky (Boone County). Brett D. Stith, son of Douglas M. Stith is presently an apprentice Funeral Director and the fifth generation to enter the family business of funeral service for the Stith Family.
Douglas M. Stith presently operates the funeral homes as a fourth generation funeral director.
