Obituary for Betty Jean Hopkins Landfried
Betty Jean Hopkins Landfried (91) went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 7, 2022. Jean was born to Howard and Matilda Hopkins in Given, West Virginia. On April 7, 1950, she married the love of her life, the late Daniel Philip Landfried, and they were married for 66 years. Together, Jean and Danny are survived by their five children Phil (Jean) Landfried, Ann (Rob) Steffen, Nancy (Joe) Scott, Jill (Mark) Johnson, and Doug (Tammy) Landfried; niece Kathy (Jimmy) Browning; twelve grandchildren Julie (Kevin), Ben, Brad (Sarah), Susan (Rich), Jeff, Daniel, Jennifer (Andy), Katie (Dan), Rachel, Jenna (Austin), Paige, and Matt; and ten great-grandchildren Ava Grace, Graham, Ruby, Jackson, Lucy, Matilda, Crosby, Charlotte, Paisley, and Owen. Jean would tell you her greatest joy in life was her family. She spent her days sacrificially loving, encouraging, and supporting them. As Mom, Grandma, and Mee-Maw, she was happiest with a baby in her arms. Jean created a home that was full of love and laughter. You could often find her gathered around the kitchen table with her family playing Boggle, coloring with her grandkids, decorating Christmas cookies or coloring Easter eggs. Jean was kind and selfless, always looking to help those around her. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She leaves a legacy of how to pour yourself out in love for your family, friends, and neighbors. Jean was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church. There will be a private service for family, and she will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 644 Linn Street, Suite 1026, Cincinnati, OH 45203. Online condolences may be made at www.stithfuneralhomes.com
