Obituary for Dolores A. Wilson

Dolores A. Wilson passed peacefully at her home on January 29th. She was surrounded by her loved ones. She was born 93 years ago in Harlan, Ky, the daughter of Jesse and Myrtle Vermillion. She was a proud graduate of Holmes High School, class of ’46. After graduation she worked for a short time as a secretary in Cincinnati. Her husband of 63 years (Tom) preceded in death, as did her son, Greg. Brothers, Howard Vermillion and Charles Vermillion and sister, Nancy Dwyer also preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Dale (Mary Jo). She was a woman of style and substance. Shopping was a favorite pastime of hers, especially for shoes and purses. The substance of her life was her faith. She attended Florence United Methodist Church for the last 30 years, but before that, her family was a charter member of the First Evangelical Methodist Church in Latonia. Every year she would read her bible cover to cover. For many years she was a big supporter of the Lady Rebel’s basketball team. Her morning routine included reading the newspaper and completing the crossword puzzle of the day. Spy thrillers and mystery novels were her go to pleasure reads. She loved playing dominoes with family and friends and, more often than not, she came away the winner. Her wish was that there be no funeral service because of the possible spread of COVID. The family will honor her wish with a private burial. Her generosity was well known during her lifetime. If you wish to honor that generous spirit, you could donate to a charity of your choice. Her home was filled with a large collection of angels, now she can rest with the angels for all eternity.
