Obituary for Gerard "Jerry" C Cimaglio
Gerard “Jerry” C. Cimaglio, age 73 of Union, KY passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, July 22, 2021 with his family present. Jerry was the loving and proud father of his daughters, Tara Lynn (Patrick) Hijduk and Rebecca Ann (Ronnie) Gomez. He was “Papa” to his loving grandsons Leo, Max and Sam Hijduk, Warren Gomez, and granddaughter Delaney Gomez. He will be missed by his faithful fur companion, Shelby. Jerry was a dear brother to Frederick A. (Judy) Cimaglio, Henry M. Cimaglio Jr., Edward J. (Katherine) Cimaglio, Lawrence J. (Gretchen) Cimaglio, and Robert J. Cimaglio as well as his dear sisters Mary E. (Cimaglio) Stutz and Nancy E. Cimaglio. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry M. and Elizabeth A. (VanderHyden) Cimaglio and brother Charles T. Cimaglio. He leaves behind a great many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends including Lyneva (Wrigglesworth) Cimaglio. Jerry was born in Evanston, IL and grew up in Glenview, IL. After high school graduation, Jerry joined the Navy and settled in San Jose, CA. Following his military service, he went to work for United Airlines where he was a mechanic in San Francisco, CA for 33 years. Following his retirement, Jerry moved to Union, KY and was soon joined by his daughter, Tara, and son-in-law Patrick. His daughter Rebecca and son-in-law Ronnie, moved to Ohio in 2020 to be closer to Jerry. Jerry had a compassionate and giving heart towards family, friends, and strangers alike. He led his life by example, teaching his daughters and grandchildren the honor and rewards of working hard as well as by helping those in need. He strove to be the best Papa he could be to his grandchildren and imparted the knowledge in their young minds and hearts that there is nothing they cannot achieve without dedication and a little elbow grease. Jerry took great joy in teaching his grandchildren how to work with their hands and transfer ideas into creations to be proud of. This included life skills in mechanics, wood working, home maintenance and last, but not least, how to bake the perfect brownie. Jerry will be greatly missed by those he loved and cared for. Memorial donations can be made in his honor to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
