Obituary for James Russell Morris
James Russell Morris, 87, of Florence, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2017. He is preceded in death by several of his siblings: Lawrence Morris, Aubrey Morris, Irene Crum, Bennett Morris, Joyce Neiderlehner and Cecil Morris. Jim is survived by Jo Anne Morris, his loving wife of 45 years. He also leaves behind his children: James H. Morris (Miriam), Carolyn Jo Woodard, John Morris (Kate), Paul Morris (Tracy); and his step-daughter Karen Bremenkamp. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Ralph Morris, Garnett Morris, Carroll Morris, Shelby Morris, and Wayne Morris. Jim was the proud grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of 2. He will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his longtime business partner Dianne Bressler and his entire work family. Jim was a member of Erlanger Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer. He opened the first private practice CPA firm in Boone County, later becoming Morris and Bressler PSC; he was fully active in the firm until 1994 when he enjoyed a reduced work schedule. Jim served on several Boards of Directors for Florence Building and Loan, Florence Deposit Bank, and Liberty National Bank of Northern Kentucky. He gave generously of his time to several civic organizations in Boone County over the years, namely Boone County Jaycees, Kiwanis Club of Erlanger, and the Boone County Businessmen’s Club. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Stith Funeral Home, 7500 U.S. Highway 42, Florence, Kentucky 41042, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will immediately follow at Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. In appreciation for the compassionate care and service that Jim received during his time at St. Elizabeth Hospice, the family requests that memorials take the form of donations to: St. Elizabeth Foundation/Hospice, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, Kentucky 41017.
