Obituary for Jenny Lee Gullette

Jenny Lee (Hall) Gullett, age 67, of Hendersonville, TN (a suburb of Nashville), died after a heroic battle with cancer. She is the daughter of Roy C. Hall, a former postmaster of the Union, KY Post Office and longtime deacon of Florence Baptist Church, and Gloria Mae Chipman. As a young child, she grew up in Florence, KY and, during her teenage years, she lived on a family farm near Union, KY.

She graduated from Boone County High School in 1968 and, in 1974 she earned a B.S. Degree in Music from the University of the Cumberlands (formerly Cumberland College), graduating summa cum laude. Jenny also received in 1994 a M.Ed. Degree from the University of Virginia, Curry School of Education, with highest honors. Additional graduate level courses in reading education were completed by her at the University of Cincinnati, where she excelled academically earning the highest academic achievement. Following her matriculation, she taught reading in elementary schools in Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee. Her last two teaching positions were with, respectively, Beechgrove Elementary School (1995 —2001) and Westmoreland Elementary School (2001 — 2017) in Independence, KY and Westmoreland, TN.

Jenny's personal love was serving and helping others — she worked in soup kitchens; taught literacy skills to state prisoners; organized faith-based, mission outreach projects; taught children's Sunday school classes; directed children's choirs; and organized and directed vacation bible schools. Jenny was a devoted, loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
Jenny was predeceased by her loving, little sister, Shirley Ann Hall, a very special gift and child of God, and she leaves behind her beloved husband, friend and soul mate of 49 years, William "Bill" Charles Gullett, a member of the law firm of Frost Brown Todd LLC; her most loved and cherished son, Jonathan William Gullett, a former U.S. Air Force Electronic Warfare Officer and a PharmD candidate at The Ohio State University; her very precious grandson, William Jonathan Gullett; two sisters and a brother: Constance "Connie" (Hall) Becker, Bonnie (Hall) Horgan and Robert "Bob" Hall; seven nieces and nephews; and three "adopted" sisters — Shirley (Gullett) Gullion, Mary Lou (Gullett) Gullion and Kathleen (Gullett) Feldhaus.

Visitation will be 11:00 — 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18, at Burlington Baptist Church, 3031 Washington Street, Burlington, KY. Funeral services will be conducted at the church immediately following visitation with Rev. Kent Holland officiating.
