Obituary for Joseph A. Baumann

Joseph A. Baumann, 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 2, 2021. He was born in Newport, KY to the late Joseph H. and Elizabeth (nee Schappel) Baumann. Joe proudly served our country during WWII in the United States Navy. He worked for Cincinnati Bell Telephone Company where he retired after 35 years. Joe was married to the late Ruth (nee Whitehead) Baumann for 57 years. They lived in Woodlawn, KY where he served on the City Council. When they retired, they moved to the Southport Springs Community in Zephyrhills, FL. Joe enjoyed golfing and scored his one and only hole-in-one on February 22, 2011. He took pleasure in playing his last round of golf with some of his family on his 90th birthday. He leaves behind his children: Sr. Susan Baumann, CDP, Joe Baumann, Jr. (Jackie), Beth Krummel (Karl), Beverly Van Arnem (Bob), Margie Ruth (Paul), Patti Brandt and Tom Baumann (Tammy). He was the proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Howard Baumann and sisters Betty Verst and Marian Rust. He was preceded in death by his brothers: John, Elmer, Fr. Raymond, Wilbur, Edward and Leonard Baumann, sisters: Mildred Fasse, Rita Stone, and grandson: Patrick Baumann. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Alexandria, KY on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to the Sisters of Divine Providence, Melbourne, KY.
