Obituary for KEITH EUGENE FREEBURNE

Keith Eugene Freeburne of Florence, Kentucky (formerly of Peabody, Kansas) went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ early on the morning of May 22, 2015. He was born in Lyons, Kansas to Clarence and Edna Freeburne on May 9, 1928 and was the second youngest of five sons. On October 18, 1948 Keith married his high school sweetheart, Dolores Irene Highfill. They were married for 55 years before Delores preceded Keith in death in 2003. Keith and Dolores had three children, Steven Kerry, Vickie Leigh and Tamara Lou. At the time of his death Keith had 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Upon graduation from high school Keith enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as an airplane mechanic from 1948 to 1950. Upon leaving the Navy, Keith pursued a career in airplane manufacturing and worked for over 25 years combined between Boeing and Lear Jet in Wichita, Kansas.
Keith and Dolores also served as full time house parents for Heart Ministries in Hutchinson, Kansas. Keith loved the Lord and was blessed with saving faith in his young adulthood. He and Dolores served faithfully in the Peabody Christian Church, Meridian Baptist Church of Newton, Kansas and Central Christian Church in Wichita, Kansas. At the time of his death he was a member of Florence Baptist Church in Kentucky. Keith had many hobbies and interests. For many years he photographed weddings, he loved building young boys into men when he served as scoutmaster for the Peabody Boy Scout Troup 108 and for the last ten years he was keenly interested in researching the Freeburne genealogy. Even up to the day he died he was tinkering around the house, taking things apart and always trying to make them better. His gracious, loving and tender heart spoke to all with whom he came in contact and he had a deep desire to proclaim the love of Jesus locally and through the support of many missionaries. Services will be held at the Stith Funeral Home 7500 U.S. Hwy 42 Florence, Kentucky Tuesday May 26, 2015 with visitation starting at 9:00 am and services to follow at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the 1520 Coalition which is a mission agency focused on taking the gospel to Islamic regions of the Middle East. Checks can be writing to The 1520 Coalition and mailed to 10186 Lewis Lane, Union, Kentucky 41091.
