Obituary for MORRIS VAUGHN ROGERS
Morris “Vaughn” Rogers, 77, entered eternal life on April 4, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. Vaughn was born and raised in Boone County and was fittingly a part of Boone County High School’s first graduating class of 1955. He then went on to graduate from the University of Kentucky in 1962 with a B.S. in Accounting. He was an active member of R.O.T.C and Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He continued his lifelong relationships with his fraternity brothers through monthly luncheons in Northern Kentucky, Lexington, and Louisville. Vaughn was very active in the community in his pre-retirement years, and held many positions within several associations. He was an active member of Boone Air and Fort Mitchell Country Clubs, Florence Elks, as well as, serving as President of the Boone Co. Jaycees and Boone Co. Businessmen. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Northern Kentucky UK alumni association and Woodspoint Nursing Home. Vaughn was employed by Grefco, Litton, and was the Finance Director of Boone County until his retirement in 1999. After retiring, he and his wife spent their winter months at their home in Hobe Sound, Florida for 12 years. Vaughn enjoyed tending to his garden and flowers, feeding the local squirrels, and visiting the beautiful beaches. Vaughn loved following sports, specifically, the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals, and University of Kentucky football and basketball teams. The Big Blue Nation lost a tremendous devotee. Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Hilda Rogers of Burlington, KY. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Evalene (Mayes) of Mackville, KY, son, Timothy Rogers of Louisville, KY, daughter, Mitzi Rogers of Walton, KY, three granddaughters, Sydney, Kamryn, and Karsen Rogers. Vaughn also leaves behind his brother, Paul E. Rogers of Astatula, FL and sisters, Charlotte Taylor of Hebron, KY, Mary Sue Rudicill (Bill) of Burlington, KY, and Marty Blazie (Deane) of Street, Maryland and numerous nieces nephews, special friends, and extended family.
